LRC Vancouver is a three-day version of Girls Rock Camp Vancouver, which had its first session in summer 2009. Girls Rock Camp is an international non-profit organization that was created as a forum to help girls ages 8-18 build self-esteem through music creation and performance. But ladies want and need to rock too!! At LRC Vancouver, ladies of all ages and skill levels – absolute beginners welcome! – will get a chance to do just that – they will form bands, write songs together, and perform their original songs at an amazing showcase. And the coolest part of all is that all the proceeds from LRC go toward providing food and supplies for Girls Rock Camp Vancouver.
Here’s what you’ll get during your three days at LRC Vancouver:
- Instruction in guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, or vocals from experienced female musicians
- Everything you need to craft your song and rock out at the showcase, from instruments to sound gear
- Workshops in songwriting, stage presence, and screen-printing band T-shirts
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, guaranteed to be yummy
- A super rad Saturday-evening karaoke party
- The chance to meet interesting people, make some new friends, and - - best of all -- find or rediscover yourself as a super awesome lady rocker!
The cost for all this coolness: $350 -- not bad considering that you’d pay at least that much for the amount of music instruction you’ll receive.
