After School Staff Applications 2017

Work for our After School Programs!

GRCV is happy to announce we are hiring staff for our After School Programs at UNYA and Moberly.

UNYA Program:

In partnership with Vancouver’s Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA), Girls Rock Camp Vancouver will be hosting its first all gender inclusive after school drop in program aimed at building self-esteem in marginalized youth through music creation and performance. By providing workshops and technical training, we create leadership opportunities, cultivate a supportive community of peers and mentors, and encourage social change and the development of life skills. This after school program will be open to Indigenous youth of any gender identification, ages 15-24. Participants will engage in instrument instruction, songwriting, workshops, band practice, jamming, and, in doing so, share stories, and experiences, translating to a natural environment of self-esteem building, and self-expression.

Start Date: September 12 2017

Time: 3:30-7:30pm every Tuesday

Where: Urban Native Youth Association 1618 East Hastings

Pay Rate: TBD

Attn: Volunteers must be over 19+ to apply and pass a criminal record check

About You: Those wishing to volunteer for this after school program should ideally have a multi-instrumental background and be able to adjust any curriculum to varying levels of skill and experience. Volunteers should harbour the desire to lead and help build this program with the support of GRCV and UNYA members. This is an opportunity to serve the marginalized youth in our community and provide a constructive outlet for creative energy to flourish and grow. Mentorship positions are open to all genders.

Our volunteers are people who place the best interests of youth and their physical and emotional safety above all else; who understand and believe in the Camp’s mission; who will show up at every shift (if the position calls for it), on time, and ready to work; and who are willing to participate and be present.

Moberly Program:

Girls Rock Camp Vancouver aims to empower youth through music creation. Youth will get hands on experience making music in different musical genres while learning the basics of music creation. The program is open to female and non binary youth ages 8-15.

Start Date: September 14th to November 30th.

Time: 2:30-6:30pm every Thursday. Kids show up at 3:30pm

Where: Moberly Arts Center, 7646 Prince Albert St, Vancouver, BC
